01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Overlooking the former Kameoka Castle moat and Nango Pond, Kunitteru offers a calm, unpretentious retreat alongside comforting café fare. Mornings feature a satisfying spread of morning sets, ranging from thick-cut buttered toast paired with eggs to soft bread rolls filled with fluffy scrambled egg, as well as pancakes plated with bacon and a sunny-side-up fried egg. Packed hot pressed sandwiches and mixed sandwiches are available in half or double sizes, suiting both light morning bites and larger appetites. The hot coffee served with the sets carries a gentle, rounded richness that makes a pleasant morning cup.

From daily set meals to classic omurice

Come lunchtime, the kitchen turns to a lineup of nostalgic kissaten-style Western dishes and set meals. Rotating daily lunch specials highlight mains such as tender hamburg steaks, crisp tonkatsu, and fragrant tatsuta-age fried chicken, accompanied by miso soup. The filling omurice comes in its traditional form alongside distinct variations, including omurice covered in rich beef curry and a version topped with hearty meat sauce. Other options, including katsu curry, baked doria, and assorted spaghetti dishes, offer plenty of variety to match any appetite.

Afternoon sweets and quiet tea breaks

For dessert or an afternoon pause, sweet treats take center stage. The fruit parfait is piled generously with seasonal fruits and ice cream, while traditional tastes are met with warm zenzai, a sweet red bean soup containing mochi and chestnuts. Linger over a pot of tea or coffee jelly garnished with fruit in the quiet dining room. Free parking is available right in front of the premises, and payment is cash only.
